Application period opens April 1st.

Fall Fiction Session is September 11th - 18th, 2024. Lauren Wolk is the workshop leader. Writers interested in Young Adult and Middle Grade are encouraged to apply, but workshop is not limited to YA / Middle Grade writing. 

Applications are due May 15th. Applicants will be notified by July 1st.  

Wolk is the author of the New York Times bestselling and Newbery Honor-winning Wolf Hollow (2016), its sequel, My Own Lightning (2022), the Scott O’Dell Award-winning Beyond the Bright Sea (2017), and Echo Mountain (2020). 

To be considered for admission as a paying participant, please apply to the General Application category. Keep in mind that scholarships are very competitive, and that scholarship applications will not automatically be considered for General Admission. If you would like to be considered as both a scholarship and non-scholarship participant, please submit a General Application in addition to a scholarship application. If you are eligible and would like to be considered for multiple scholarships, please submit an application to each category for which you qualify. 

Note: Workshop is optional. Attendees are welcome to use their time on island as free writing time.

The Crossfield Fellowship is given to a fiction writer who exhibits exceptional creativity, vision, and commitment in his or her work and is also a parent. Writers with at least one child under the age of 18 are eligible.

3) Write short statement (under 300 words) in response to this question: "How does your family life inspire or challenge your writing life? How would a Crossfield Fellowship to Cuttyhunk Island Writers' Residency be helpful to you at this time?"

The Tulip Adkins Scholarship, named for a family member of the scholarship sponsor, is given to a Black fiction writer who exhibits exceptional creativity and vision in their work.
